MINUTES OF MONTHLY ACADEMIC MEETING FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH, 2016

After the formal welcome, the Deputy Commissioner expressed her satisfaction over the academic activities conducted during the year 2015-16.  She also appreciated efforts made by the Principals and staff for making all efforts for achieving cent percent result in Board Classes and Internal Exams.  Thereafter, the agenda points were taken for discussion:- 

01        REVIEW OF THE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MONTHLY ACADEMIC COMMITTEE

            MEETING HELD ON 16-11-2015

           The Minutes were reviewed and confirmed.

 02        DEVELOPING SPOKEN ENGLISH

           Spoken English is very vital for developing communication among students and teachers.  For this,  two workshops have already been conducted for the PRTs and HMs.  KVs will have to ensure that they make a system with such workshops are conducted every month on Saturdays and students and staff are encouraged for speaking in English.  For this services of PGT(Eng) and TGT(Eng) can be utilized.        The Vidyalaya has to evolve a culture which motivates English learning environment and inculcate the habit of thinking in English rather than translating in mother tongue. Developing of English Lab may be taken up on priority.  Computer Labs/Resource Rooms can be developed as English Lab.  If required,  you may use printed material, soft material reading cards, comprehensive cards available on internet and in market which can be procured or even developed in the Vidyalaya.

 03        SCHOOL READINESS PROGRAMME

           The School Readiness Booklet has been revised and it is now ready to print.  It was    decided that the Cluster In-charges will collect the requirement from the Cluster KVs and get the required number of copies printed from the soft copy prepared by a team of HMs and PRTs sent to them.  This Readiness Programme will be initially used for 45   days   for Class I starting from April 1, 2016.  This is one of the activities which is to be done under the School Readiness Programme. Many other programmes can be prepared and followed by the Vidyalayas. The objective is to make a child familiar adaptable to the new school environment.

 04        CONDUCT OF WEEK END WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS

           Unlike last year, it was decided to start the workshops right from April month itself. For Class XII, it was unanimously decided to conduct the workshop in the second week of April in the subjects of Maths, Economics, Accountancy and Business Studies.  The details of Venues and Dates will be intimated in due course of time.  The primary focus of the workshop would be on the following points  :-

         (a)       Study the latest pattern of question papers held in March, 2016.

(b)     To prepare the teachers children in answering the value based and comprehension/ application based.  The theme of the workshop would be Teacher Enhancement Workshop.  The focus would be of bringing teachers out of their comfort zone and preparing children in attempting case studies   and research while studying the subject. 

05      CONDUCT OF BASIC AND ADVANCE COURSE FOR SCOUTS AND GUIDES

         The matter was discussed in detail and it was felt that the Scouts & Guides activities   in our Region needs complete revamp by organizing Basic and Advance Courses and
        Dwitiya Sopan and Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp as per the schedule. Sh RM Bhabhor, Assistant Commissioner and In-charge of Scouts & Guides Activities will explore and issue necessary guidelines in the matter. A 03 Day Camp for Scouts and   Guides who have received Rajya Puraskar Certificate will be held in April, 2016.
 

06      DEVELOPMENT OF SPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES IN KVs

            Games and Sports are the integral part of School system.  Kendriya Vidyalayas are    no exception to this.  Our Region will be hoisting the National Sports Meet in the year   2018-19 and lot of preparations are to be made in this regard like renovation and repair of toilets, Vidyalaya buildings and construction of additional bath rooms etc.  Developing Sports and ground of national standard is also need urgent attention at Vidyalaya level.  Proposal in this regard, if any, may be forwarded to RO for getting   funds or approval of Regional Sports Control Board.  Sh SP Patil, Assistant Commissioner and Sports In-charge will  explore and issue necessary instructions in this regard.  

07      ANY OTHER POINT

(i)           The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress made by the Region in Shaala Darpan and reminded that it is a flagship programme and for this one should contribute for its successful implementation and time bound manner.  She referred to the letter sent by the RO regarding the appointment of Data Operators, improving the speed of internet,  wherever necessary and getting the hard copy of the information uploaded in the Portal – while maintaining hard copies of all records uploaded in files. 

(ii)          AEP Programme  :   The Deputy Commissioner told the Principals that we need to develop a positive attitude towards students,  especially girl students.  Every school should have Disha Clubs.  Disha Clubs are to be constituted as per KVS circular and implemented as per norms and to be made operational in all the Kendriya Vidyalayas from April itself.

(iii)         Updation of Vidyalaya Websites  :  The Vidyalaya Website is a very important tool in the age of technology to interact with the society.  Therefore, it is imperative to make it attractive and be source of information with ethnic and latest news, information, activities related to the Vidyalayas in particular and KVS in general.  Each Vidyalaya should have a committee in monitoring its updation periodically. Sh RM Bhabhor, AC will monitor websites for RO level. 

(iv)         Safety and Security of the Vidyalaya  :  All the Vidyalayas should ensure that CCTV Camera and walkie talkie at the gate / intercom facilities are available.  No two wheelers without helmet and valid license be allowed in the campus of Vidyalayas and residential areas of KVS. 

(v)          e-Content  :  e-Content as directed by the KVS(HQ), each Vidyalaya has to be prepared and uploaded on SHAALA DARPAN.  Therefore, Principals should identify the teachers for preparing e-Content for each subject from Class VI onwards in the prescribed format circulated vide kvsroacad1@gmail.com dated 26-02-2016.  The soft copy of the same may be forwarded to this office latest by 15th April, 2016.
